Overview

MarkUp is in Early Access. Free for everyone while we refine the product with feedback from our first 500 users. MarkUp is a Chrome extension that lets you annotate live webpages and export structured change requests to AI coding assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and Claude Code. Draw your changes instead of describing them. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HOW IT WORKS 1. Press Cmd+Shift+M (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+M (Windows) on any webpage 2. Draw callouts, arrows, shapes, or freeform annotations directly on the page 3. Label each callout with what needs to change 4. Click "Copy to clipboard" — the annotated screenshot plus a structured markdown changelog are ready to paste into your AI 5. Or click "Save" to drop the export into a local folder your Claude Code agent is watching ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ SEVEN ANNOTATION TOOLS - Callout markers — auto-numbered circles with text labels - Pencil / freeform drawing - Arrow tool - Rectangle and circle shapes - Text annotations - Highlight tool - Screenshot capture with all annotations embedded ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ BUILT FOR THE AI DEVELOPMENT WORKFLOW MarkUp exports include CSS selectors for every annotated element. Claude Code and other AI agents get a precise address, not a description. No more "make the button on the right a bit bigger" — every change is anchored to the actual element. The export format is a PNG image plus a plain markdown file. Both work with any AI assistant that accepts image or file input. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ KEYBOARD-FIRST - Cmd+Shift+M / Ctrl+Shift+M — Activate MarkUp - Cmd+Z / Ctrl+Z — Undo - Esc — Deactivate - Full shortcut coverage across every tool ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ PRIVACY-FIRST DESIGN No account required. No cloud sync. No telemetry. MarkUp has no backend. All annotations live in your browser's local extension storage. Nothing is transmitted to Implement AI or any third party. Your data never leaves your device. Full privacy policy: https://markupextension.com/privacy ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ EARLY ACCESS PROGRAM MarkUp is free during Early Access. Sign up at markupextension.com/beta to share feedback. The first 500 testers who complete our questionnaire earn lifetime free access once MarkUp launches generally. After Early Access ends, MarkUp will continue to offer a free individual tier plus paid subscriptions for power features. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WORKS WITH - Google Chrome - Microsoft Edge - Brave - Arc - Any Chromium-based browser Safari support is on the roadmap. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Recent updates (v1.2) • Crop to annotations — export just the part of the page you marked up, sized so your AI can actually read it. Toggle it on; full-page stays the default. • Cleaner long-page screenshots — sticky headers and floating bars no longer duplicate down the image. • Annotate inside modals and dialogs — pop-ups stay open while you mark them up. Recent updates (v1.1) • Editable annotations — select any annotation to move, resize, edit its text, or delete it. No more delete-and-redraw. • Resizable text boxes — drag to set the width; your text wraps to fit and stays readable over busy pages. • Keyboard shortcut surfaced — launch MarkUp instantly without leaving your keyboard (set it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts) ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ BUILT BY MarkUp is built by Implement AI, a Seattle AI agency. Questions, feature requests, or feedback: contact@markupextension.com Not affiliated with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or GitHub. MarkUp is an independent tool that works with their products.
