What the site does

The Chrome Web Store lists hundreds of thousands of extensions and makes it hard to compare them side by side. This site organises extensions by the job they do, puts close rivals next to each other and explains the trade-offs: price, permissions, how actively an extension is maintained and who it suits.

• Best-of lists pick a small number of extensions for one task and say why each one made the cut.
• Comparisons put two extensions head to head.
• Guides explain how to get something done in Chrome, with or without an extension.
• The extension directory gives every listed extension its own page with its store details and alternatives.

Where the information comes from

Names, descriptions, ratings, review counts and install figures come from each extension's public Chrome Web Store listing. Where figures have not been synced from the store yet, the site shows no numbers rather than guessing. Recommendations, pros and cons and verdicts are written by the editorial team. The editorial policy explains how extensions are chosen and reviewed.

Independence

Single Tab Browser is not affiliated with Google, Chrome or the Chrome Web Store. Developers cannot pay to change a verdict, a ranking or a rating. If that ever changes, for example through clearly labelled sponsored placements, it will be disclosed on the page where it appears and in the editorial policy.

Suggest an extension or a correction

Developers can submit an extension for review. If something on a page is wrong or out of date, the contact page explains how to report it.
