Digital Signature for PDF Files — What's New in Version 3.1.0 Sign any PDF in seconds, entirely on your own device. This release is the biggest update the extension has ever had: it corrects a serious problem that affected where your signature landed in saved documents, and it adds the features people have asked for most. THE BIG FIX: YOUR SIGNATURE NOW LANDS EXACTLY WHERE YOU PUT IT If you use a high-resolution screen — and most modern laptops have one — your signature was being placed in the wrong position and at the wrong size in the saved PDF. A signature you carefully positioned over a signature line could end up roughly twice as large and far from where you dropped it. The cause was a mismatch between the pixels your screen uses and the measurements a PDF uses. That translation has been rewritten and verified, so what you see on screen is now exactly what is written into the file, on every display and at every browser zoom level. We also fixed signature placement on rotated pages. Scanned documents are frequently stored sideways, and stamps on those pages previously landed incorrectly. The extension now accounts for page rotation, so signatures sit correctly on scans as well. OTHER IMPORTANT FIXES Saving no longer captures a blank page. Previously, if you changed pages and saved immediately, the extension could write out an empty page, and flipping through pages quickly could leave the viewer stuck on a blank screen. Page rendering now completes properly before anything is saved. Your drawing is no longer erased by accident. Resizing the browser window, moving it to another monitor, or loading a PDF used to silently wipe an in-progress signature with no warning. Your work is now preserved through all of those. You now get real error messages. Password-protected PDFs, damaged files, clipboard problems, and empty signatures all used to fail silently — you clicked a button and simply nothing happened, with no way to tell whether the extension was broken. Every one of those situations now explains clearly what went wrong and what to do about it. The "Add to PDF" placement feature actually works. It was previously unreachable: no button opened it, and the page it led to had no way to save. It is now a complete, working part of the extension. Smaller corrections include exported images no longer carrying a stray transparent edge, pen settings that apply immediately instead of only after starting a new signature, a pen colour that no longer resets itself unexpectedly, and signed files that are named after the original document instead of a generic name. NEW FEATURES Signature library. Save your signature once and reuse it whenever you need it. You can keep up to 24 signatures, name them, and apply them with a single click. Previously every session started from a blank canvas. Typed signatures. Type your name and choose from four handwriting and print styles instead of drawing with a mouse or trackpad — a far easier option if you do not have a touchscreen or stylus. Upload an existing signature. Already have a signature saved as an image, or a photo of one signed on paper? Upload it and the extension removes the white background automatically, so it layers cleanly over your document. Text and date stamps. Add dates, initials, printed names, or any other short text alongside your signature, with adjustable size and colour. A one-click date button fills in today's date. Sign every page at once. Apply your signature to an entire document in a single step, instead of repeating the work page by page. A redesigned signing workspace. The page where you place a signature onto a PDF has been rebuilt as a proper editor: your tools are organised in a sidebar, the document sits on a clean backdrop, and page navigation and zoom controls float below the page. You can drag a PDF straight onto the window to open it, drag and resize your signature freely, and nudge it into position with the arrow keys. Zoom and sharper pages. View documents between 50% and 200%, and pages now render crisply on high-resolution screens. Redo, alongside undo. Step backwards and forwards through your strokes. SVG export. Save drawn signatures as scalable vector images that stay sharp at any size. Dark mode, right-to-left layout for Arabic, Persian, Hebrew and Urdu, and improved keyboard support round out the release. YOUR FILES NEVER LEAVE YOUR DEVICE Everything happens locally in your browser. Your documents and signatures are never uploaded, never sent to a server, and never seen by anyone but you. The extension works offline and requests only the single permission it needs to store your saved signatures on your own computer. Please note that text and date stamps currently support Western European characters; other scripts are not yet available for typed stamps, though signatures drawn or uploaded as images work in every language.
