Honey

Overview

Honey tests known coupon codes at checkout and applies the best one it finds, and tracks price history on supported stores so you can judge whether a sale is real.

Honey is the coupon extension PayPal bought, and at checkout it does what the ads say: pops up, tries the codes it knows for that store, and keeps the one that works. On eligible stores it also offers PayPal Rewards points, and Droplist watches a product for price drops. It costs nothing because stores pay Honey an affiliate commission when a purchase goes through it.

That affiliate model is exactly what the late-2024 controversy was about — reports that Honey claimed credit for sales creators had referred, and that it did not always show the best available code. Whether that changes your mind is up to you. Practically: Honey still finds working codes often enough to keep installed, but for a big purchase it is worth spending two minutes on a coupon site as well, and Coupert, Karma and Rakuten are the usual alternatives.
