Overview

One click reveals DNS records and domain registration data for the website you're currently on. Whois / DNS Peek is a small diagnostic utility for anyone who needs to inspect a domain quickly — developers debugging DNS, sysadmins checking propagation, or anyone curious about a site they've landed on. Click the toolbar icon and the popup shows: - DNS records — A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT — for the current tab's hostname, resolved over DNS-over-HTTPS - Registration data — registrar, creation date, last updated, expiration, status flags, and authoritative nameservers — via RDAP, the modern replacement for legacy whois - Reverse lookup (PTR) when the active tab is an IP address - Click any value to copy it, or use "Copy all" to grab the full report as plain text How it works: DNS queries go to Google's public DNS-over-HTTPS endpoint, with Cloudflare DNS as an automatic fallback if Google fails. Registration lookups go to rdap.org, the public RDAP gateway operated by ARIN, which routes the request to the correct registry per TLD. All requests are made over HTTPS, and only at the moment you click the icon. What it does not do: - No accounts, no sign-up, no settings page - No analytics, no telemetry, no usage tracking - No background activity — nothing happens until you click the icon - No content scripts injected into pages - No reading of page content, cookies, history, or anything beyond the hostname of the current tab - Nothing stored on disk — when the popup closes, everything is discarded Built on Manifest V3. Single purpose, no bloat. Open the popup, read the answer, move on.
